NAMI Green County, Inc. Scholarship Program
NAMI GREEN COUNTY wanted to do something to help those individuals who are continuing education after high school and going into the mental health field. We decided to establish a scholarship program, and 2019 was the first year it was rolled out. An interested individual must complete an application and write a short essay of 250 to 500 words. Applicants must also have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and attend a 2 or a 4 year college with the emphasis in a field related to mental health. The NAMI Green County Board will review applications in the spring and decide the recipient, who will then get a one-time scholarship of $1,000. The applicant must complete one semester of schooling and then provide information to receive the scholarship money for his or her second semester.
The 2019 recipient is Cammi Ganshert from Monroe. Cammi will be attending either UW–Madison, UW–Milwaukee or Marquette University and plans to pursue a degree related to psychology.
The intent of this scholarship is not only to help students interested in going into the mental health field but to also encourage other students to consider a mental health related degree as well, since there is an ongoing need.
